Uncertain Visual Discrimination Test

One of the most important aspects of impulsive behavior is being able to postpone making a decision until accurate information is available. This is sometimes termed reaction impulsivity. WiltonLogic measures reaction impulsivity using the uncertain visual discrimination procedure. The participant sees five targets. In each of the targets are up to 25 yellow balls. The target which consistently has the most balls is the correct target. Since the balls are continually coming and going, it is difficult to see immediately which is the correct choice. At the start of each trial they are randomly distributed across all five targets, but as time goes on the likelihood that the correct target will have the most balls increases. In this way, the longer the subject waits, the better information they have about which is the correct target.
